Do you want to contribute to creating positive societal change in collaboration with practitioners?

Researchers at the Faculties of Humanities, Law, Theology and Social Sciences are invited to apply for seed-funding for new projects focused on policy, practice and impact.

The purpose of the seed funding is to:

  1. Promote research-practice collaboration and innovative approaches to the co-creation of projects with external actors
  2. Support promising new projects in securing external funding in the long term
  3. Contribute to research that addresses current political and societal issues and reach a broad and relevant audience

In this round, we expect to support 4 projects with up to 200,000 DKK each.

The role of Queen Mary’s Centre

In addition to financial support, Queen Mary’s Centre offers to contribute to project development based on the center's experience in building research-practice collaborations and fundraising. The center has developed a number of resources within the Copenhagen Change Academy project, which can provide inspiration for methods and practical guidelines for research-practice collaborations that aim to achieve societal change.

Queen Mary’s Centre will organize a programme for the cohort of supported projects. Supported project groups are expected to participate in joint workshops and inspirational meetings. The project groups will also be offered individual advice and support from the centre's staff in relation to:

  • Options for external funding of the project
  • Project management and impact pathways
  • Co-creation strategies and facilitating e.g. workshops
  • Communication and agenda setting

The project proposal must meet the following criteria:

  • The research project must be relevant to actors in the outside world, e.g. in civil society, business or the public sector, and address current issues in society. Projects that have already established a collaboration with external actors are preferred.
  • The project group must be interdisciplinary and represent at least two of the four faculties: Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and Theology. It is considered an advantage if more than two faculties are represented.

In addition, the following criteria are important in evaluating the proposal:

  • That the project can lead to larger collaborative projects with the possibility of external funding.
  • Academic quality and rigor.

The main applicant must be employed as a researcher at THEO, HUM, LAW or SOCSCIE within one of the following job categories: professor, professor with special responsibilities, associate professor, assistant professor, tenure-track associate professor/assistant professor.

Co-applicants can be employees at the University of Copenhagen, other universities or external organizations.

You can apply for up to DKK 200,000 per project to cover, for example, collaborative activities, data collection, and salary costs for student assistants, scientific staff, etc.

Up to one year.

The application deadline is 28th April 2025.

Applicants are expected to receive a reply by the end of May.
