Queen Mary’s Centre is currently planning the development of a Knowledge Hub, an initiative designed to support research collaboration and professional networking among academic staff in Denmark and internationally. The Hub’s primary aims are:

  1. Facilitate the sharing of meta-research, resources, and best practices related to knowledge brokering and practitioner-scholar partnerships, particularly among university staff and researchers from the social sciences and humanities (SSH) engaged in research impact work.
  2. Strengthen connections among staff involved in research impact across Denmark and internationally.
  3. Support sustained engagement and knowledge exchange with leading international social impact centres
  4. Build capacity among SSH researchers and research impact staff to assess, communicate, and enhance SSH research impact.

The Knowledge Hub would function as an open network for communication, knowledge exchange, and collaborative research, strengthening connections among SSH researchers and support staff across institutions in Denmark while also fostering international engagement.

Audience/Participants

The proposed audience for the Knowledge Hub will be SSH researchers who research practitioner-scholar partnerships, and staff who are engaged in research impact work. Researchers will develop research projects and agendas and share the latest research, while support staff will build capacity and develop and share tools for enhancing the societal impact of research.

Proposed Activities

  • Develop a national and international network of researchers and staff.
  • Develop analyses and methods to assess the impact of SSH research innovation in close collaboration with other actors in the field.
  • Collect an online library of impact cases, toolkits, etc.
  • Host annual conferences on research impact in the humanities and social sciences, where researchers are invited to share the latest research and collaborate on research.
  • Host training sessions or workshops on knowledge brokering and practitioner-scholar partnerships to disseminate and align practices and strategies across institutions.
  • Develop focused working groups of researchers investigating specific aspects of research impact including impact assessment, interdisciplinarity, ethical issues with partnerships, methods, and strategies.
  • Host an international reading and knowledge exchange network with quarterly online meetings (continuing the effort started in 2025).
  • Maintain a webpage that serves as the digital hub for accessing the network’s research and resources on research-practice collaborations.
  • Contribute academic articles and other publications (e.g. an edited volume, special issues) on meta-research about knowledge brokering and practitioner-scholar partnerships.
